Rockin the Red Carpet on CBS 42 Birmingham AL
HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT)- After thrilling
audiences at the Verizon Center, Vince Neil took his act to the Iron
Horse Cafe, where he hosted "Rockin' the Red Carpet" to benefit the Make
a Wish Foundation and Music for Relief.
"Rockin' the Red Carpet is really a dream come true because it's a lot
of different elements that go together. One of those elements is that
Vince Neil has a big hand in it, he's given his time and given his
effort," says Scott Olden of the Scott Olden Band.
There were local connections all over the stage, but none closer than
that of Kelly Nagy. He's the front man for the band U.S., and has been a
mainstay in Tuscaloosa for close to a decade. "Watching it on TV and
seeing that tornado come, it was surreal. I know a lot of people
affected by it. We want to help as much as we can, if we can at all," he
says.
Charity was the name of the game, with over $2,500 going to the Make a
Wish Foundation, as well as a guitar signed by Neil. For the bands, it
was also a chance to play in front of a legend who influenced many of
their careers.
"I'm from Jacksonville, FL and I was raised on southern rock, and my
first rock concert was Motley Crue "Girls, Girls, Girls Tour," said
Phoenix Benjamin, a national artist who's career is beginning to pick up
steam.
Neil arrived at the venue shortly after 12:30 A.M., and the crowd was
thrilled to see the music icon. He even got on stage for a song with
U.S., rocking the crowd and the night in Hoover.
